    Yamaha R1 EU vs US

I was checking out the Yamaha R1 the other day, and it seems as if they have 2 different sets of fairings for the bike. One for EU and the other for the US.
I don't know of any other motorcycle manufacturer that has different color options for different markets.

The question is why do they do it?
Dio I am hoping you're around to help me figure this one out.

Here's an example of the 2012 model, on the left the EU spec, and the right US.

Definitely in the indicators ( just like cars )

I honestly don't have a straight answer but this is what most of the guys agree on...

The US spec bikes are generally down on power due to EPA laws, but the R1 has been doing good in the intl racing series, most buyers don't know the difference between the US and EU bikes the only way to swing a buyer would be through looks alone.
US schemes are generally more flamboyant...u just knw it's full of shi..t

The R1 is a pretty fast bike.

    Nobody is refuting that :cool2:

But really I personally don't like the US schemes so much.
And like Designo said the first thing that gives it away is the indicators

By the way Dio do you know which spec R1 they sell in Bahrain EU or US?

    lol, just saying bro

anyhoo, yes the indicators and the reflectors are the first dead give aways, other things to look at would be the key immobilizer, the US spec bikes dont have them.

In Bahrain, atleast from the 2009 model onwards they have been selling the US spec bikes.
